Telematic Music: ArtefactsIn Collaboration with Nice Music, the IIC presents its first printed book release, Telematic Music: Artefacts. This is an ecstatic documentation of the collective’s ongoing studies in creating music online, presented through visual art and writing.
27 performers feature on the delicately assembled recordings accompanying this publication in digital format. The results are often in turn startlingly ornate, melodically tantalising and sully permeable in their occasionally self destructive dissonance. The publication is bookended with short essays on improvisation and the climate for the IIC’s work. |
Words Seemed Unnecessary (In The Space Between Us)Part concert, part performance art and part meditation, David Sequeira’s composition was recorded live online at the height of lockdown on 19/8/2020 by the Isolation Improvisation Collective.
In addition to a small fragment of music notation, David provided the musicians with detailed instructions of not only what to play, but how to listen and engage thoughtfully throughout the performance. A catalyst for IIC magic, the piece invites players to locate their own sounds in ethereal spine-tingling layers that respond to its structurally simple but thematically rich score. Prepare to be intoxicated by jazz lounge metaphysics. |
grid lake IIIGrid Lake III was performed by the Isolation Improvisation Collective and recorded live via remote video conference on 23/4/2020.
