The Isolation Improvisation Collective (IIC) was started by Melbourne-based composer and audio engineer Patrick Telfer in response to the 2020 Covid-19. During this period, the IIC brought together artists, musicians, dancers, lighting designers, animators and other creative practitioners to improvise together over online conferencing technology. As restrictions ease, the IIC are beginning to explore the intersection between digital and real-world performance.

The IIC are interested in pushing the limits of technology, and playing with the idiosyncrasies of the internet, like glitch and lag time. They incorporate these elements into their aesthetic, rather than trying to avoid them. Artist from all mediums are welcome to join the IIC, who are open to compositions from emerging and established artists alike.
